| A mailing list is an online collection of email addresses, each belonging to an individual who wants to read and post messages to the list. Unlike a newsgroup or a bulletin board, each posting comes in the form of an email message that is sent to your personal email account. Fortunately, some mailing lists provide for web-based message retrieval, which is helpful when there are over 50 messages posted to a particular mailing list every day! Many mailing lists are private but can usually be joined just by asking!
